1 Timothy 2:11, "quietly"

1 Timothy 2:11

must quietly

The word quietly (hesuchia) does not necessarily mean not speaking (although it can and at times does), but can be used to represent an attitude of quietness and peaceful living. 2 Thessalonians 3:2 is an example of this: “Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness 2271 they work , and eat their own bread.” This word can also mean silence as it is used in Acts 22:2 “(And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence 2271: and he saith ,) This is also the same word used in verse 12 of 1 Timothy 2. The root word is hesuchios which is used in 1 Timothy 2:2 and 1 Peter 3:4.
